Helen Louise Steward-Pearcy, 95, of Las Cruces, passed away June 1 after a brief illness. She is survived by her daughter Sherry Baca, of Las Cruces, son Chris Pearcy, of Las Cruces, 6 grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren, 7 great-great grandchildren, and her sister Hazel Kula of Colorado Springs.
Helen was born July 30, 1921, in Richland, Missouri. She was the oldest of three sisters. In 1941 she married her husband Bill Pearcy. Helen and Bill moved from Missouri to Las Cruces, New Mexico, in the mid-1950s. Helen retired from NMSU, after many years as secretary to the dean of education. Helen was a member of the First Baptist Church of Las Cruces for many years. Her faith was very important to her. In her free time Helen loved to paint and garden. She was preceded in death by her husband of almost 50 years and her sister Freda Davis. A graveside service will be held Monday, July 3 at 10 am at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens in Las Cruces.
