Biography

Alick Charles Stewart was born on 20th June 1921 at Teralba, New South Wales, Australia. He was the son of Charles Stewart and Florence Mullington.[1]

He married Dorothy Kitchener in 1942 at Glebe, New South Wales.[2] They were divorced in New South Wales in April 1962, a Jack Warren being named as co-respondent.[3]

Alick Stewart is a Military Veteran.
Served in the Second Australian Imperial Force 1941-1945
2/1st Australian Infantry Battalion

Alick served in the Second Australian Imperial Force during the Second World War; enlisted 24th March 1941, discharged 13th November 1945. On enlistment his birth was given as 7th February 1920 at Teralba NSW; probably to aid enlistment being 21 years old. His mother, Florence, was listed as his NOK.[4] Alick was a member of the 2/1st Australian Infantry Battalion, joining the battalion in Palestine and Syria. The battalion was stationed on Ceylon (Sri Lanka) in 1942 and then returned to Australia for re-training for jungle warfare; before seeing action on the Kokoda and Gona-Buna campaigns and later the Aitape-Wewak campaign in Papua and New Guinea.[5]

Alick passed away on 17th June 1989 at New South Wales: three days short of his 68th birthday anniversary.[6] He was survived by his two daughters.
