George Herbert Stewart was born on 14th August 1895 in Albion, in Brisbane's inner northern suburbs, Queensland (Australia). He was the third and youngest son of Tom and Nellie Stewart. [1] He was christened in the Wharf Street Congregational Church, Brisbane. At some point between 1904 and 1910 the family moved to Fairy Knowe, Coorparoo, in Brisbane's south east. As were all his family, George was a regular attender of Wharf Street Congregational Church services.
Aged 28 years, he passed away on 13th September 1923 in Brisbane. [2] He had lost both his older sister to disease in 1915 and an older brother to The Great War in 1916.
