Hi matt, Thank you for reaching out to me. First thing I can say is that we are related, The fun part will be to figure out exactly how. My motehrs maiden name was Generas, which was a variation of Genereux. Our brick wall is with her grandfather, Charles Edward Generas who was born around Detroit about 1883. We believe his father's name was Edward, but so far no proof.
I see you also reached out to Ben Genereux. He has been helping me with my search.
We have verified that my grandfather Generas is a Genereux descendant by doing doing DNA testing at Ancestry, and Y DNA testing at Family Tree DNA. With Ben's help we are starting a Genereux surname study project at Family Tree DNA
Because pre-1700 ancestors are shared by many descendants, coordinating with others is essential. You can learn more about joining the community in How To #3 and in the Project FAQ.
