Biography

John was aged 20 and living in his parents' family in 1880, in Noble, Richland, Illinois.[1]

John Victor Stewart was a miner. He was employed by the New York Engineering Co. and worked in international mining operations.[2]

In his passport application of 1913, he stated his birth place and birth date, and that his permanent place of residence was Los Angeles, California. At that time he was aged 52, stood 5" 8', was of medium build, with a medium forehead, nose and mouth; blue eyes, round chin, gray hair, fair complexion and oval face. [3]

The spaces to record wife and children in the passport applications are left blank.

Victor Stewart, Single, was a miner returning from Colombia, age 51 sailing from Santa Marta, Colombia. arr 30 Nov 1911 at Ellis Island, NY. [4]

He returned from Cartahena, Colombia, in 1912 after another period of mining in South America. [5]

He worked in the Pan-American Gold Dredging Company of New York City. With Frank O. Altinger and William Dissman, John Victor Smith shared $1,000,000. [6]
