Thomas Stewart was born on the 12th of August, 1866, in Kilmarnock, Ayrshire, Scotland, UK, to John Stewart and Ann Stewart nee Steel. [1]

In 1871, Thomas lived on 6 Mill Lane, Kilmarnock, with his parents John and Ann and his siblings John, Benjamen, William, Robert and Alexander. [2]

In 1901, Thomas lived in a lodging house at 48 Duke Street in Glasgow, Scotland. He worked as a carter (someone who conveys goods in a cart).[3]
