John was born about 1800. He passed away about 1845.
On July 24 1843, John and his wife Barbara, along with the other heirs of her father Malcolm Ramsay and her deceased brother Edward signed a release with Barbara's mother Ann. [1]
In his will, he named the following children: Charles, William, Mary Ann and Magdalene.
Research Notes
Death record for his son William says John was born in Scotland. But on the 1880 US Census, William said both of his parents were born in "Canada".
According to Pathways to the Present, the history of Hamilton, PEI, John was the natural son of Captain John Stewart, or "Hellfire Jack"
