Research Notes
Several family trees on Ancestry claim John Brown's wife to have been Rachel Almary Stewart. None of these trees have any sources as to where the first name Rachel was found. All records located from 1870 until her death in 1946, including census, marriage, death, burial, and newspaper records show only the name Almary Stewart, Almary Brown, or Almary Allen. Efforts to locate any record showing this woman was ever called Rachel have been unsuccessful thus far.
