I'm studying how to correctly cite documentation before I create more profiles.

Hi Catherine,

Because of the way the messaging service works at WikiTree, we don't get notified about comments you put on your own profile. I noticed it while working on other Greeter duties. Did you get the information you need for citing your documentation? There are some examples on the Sources FAQ. If you are using FamilySearch.org for your research, they usually provide a citation in the right column of each record page. If you are using Ancestry and FindAGrave.com for your research, we have FAQs on how to cite and link to Ancestry records and FindAGrave memorial pages.

If you'd like to see an example of all three types of record citations, you can take a look at this profile I worked on recently. The privacy is open, so feel free to edit the profile and look at how I created each citation. When you are finished, you can close the profile without saving. If you notice a typo or see something that could be improved, feel free to do that too *smile* that's what collaboration is all about.

If you have any questions about how WikiTree works, let us know by using the "reply" link under our comments or by clicking our names to visit our profiles. From there you can leave a comment or send a private message so that we will get an alert.

See you in the branches,

Debi

Hi Catherine

As you have been a member of WikiTree for a few weeks now I thought I would check in to see how you are getting on with the site.

Has the New Member How-To been helpful or left you with any questions?

I am here to help with any problems or queries you may have. To contact me, reply to this comment, or click the link to my name and then send a private message or post a comment on my profile page.

Sometimes links don't work in emails. If that's happened to you, check the public comments on your profile. The links will work from there.
