Charles K. 'Sonny,' Stewart, Jr., 80, Johnstown, died February 20, 2015, at Good Samaritan. Born July 8, 1934, Johnstown, son of the late Charles K. Sr. and Susana (Balon) Stewart.

Preceded in death by sister, Betty; brothers, William and Thomas; three infant brothers; dogs, Bandit and Max; and cat, Skeezix.

Survived by his loving wife, Gladys J. Brown, daughter Christine Stewart, sons Raymond (Peggy), North Carolina; Brian, Johnstown; Daniel (Dorothy), Maryland; Timothy, Johnstown; three grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; sisters Ruthie Penner, Johnstown; Mary Krise, Johnstown; Nancy Deffenbaugh (Harry), Nanty Glo; and brother, Louis, Johnstown.

Charles was a member of Johnstown Third Brethren Church and Local 1279 Union. He worked for CamTran Authority as a bus driver, coached Coopersdale Elementary School basketball and Lower Yoder summer league baseball teams and also youth hockey at the Cambria County War Memorial.

At Charles’ request, there will be no services. Interment at Grandview Cemetery. Arrangements in care of Hindman Funeral Homes & Crematory Inc., 146 Chandler Avenue, exclusive provider of “Veterans and Family Memorial Care.”

• Nieman Clan History compiled by Helen Marie (Newcomer) Maust. Aunt Helen attended most all the Nieman Family Reunions and the Frankhouser Family Reunions. She gathered information from family members who attended the Reunions over the years sharing information about family lore and updated information about each branch. Around 1980 she put information together by typewriter and created a very large document that included all of the information about the Nieman and Frankhouser clans. Both branches intertwined in various ways and trace back to the common ancestors of John Blosser who emigrated from Switzerland and was of German origin. In the following years, she provided updates after the reunions were over and she could add the new information gathered at the reunions to the document. That document has been scanned as a PDF file.
