Biography

Twin Sisters

Malinda and Matilda Stice are twin sisters born 13 Nov 1812 in Gallatin, Kentucky, USA.

Confusion regarding the twins and their step-mother

There still exists some lingering confusion "out there" on the Internet regarding Matilda and Malinda, the twin daughters of Peter J. Stice and Charlotte Wainscott.

Peter J. Stice, the father of the twins, married his second wife Malinda Phelps on the same day and at the same place as his daughter Malinda, one of the twins, married Ezekiel Phelps. To make matters worse, the preacher or the recorder confused the record. If it was confusing on the day of the union, there is no wonder why it is still confusing almost two hundred years later.

Marriage

Matilda married and is buried with Phillip William Purvis. So far, no suitable documentation has been produced to justify reporting any marriage date.
