Biography
Little is known about Fanny's early life, but according to the earliest records found[1][2] she was born in 1837 as the daughter of Samuel Beer and Malle Fuchs in Bockenheim near Frankfurt-am-Mainz, Hessen, and in 1853 she and her sister Betty moved from Stockholm, Sweden, to Norrköping to join their brother Emanuel, although Betty moved back to Germany in 1856. She was Jewish but married the catholic Jean Jacques Thiel from Eupen, Rheinprovinz, Prussia (today Belgium) in a civil ceremony in Copenhagen, Denmark, in 1858.[3] By 1868 at the latest (her husband's death record says 1867, but no corresponding record has been found) the family lived in Stockholm,[4] where she seems to have stayed at one address or another for the rest of her life. Jean Jacques died in 1895,[3] and Fanny passed away from pneumonia in 1918.[5]
They had two children:
- Ernst Jacob, born 18 Aug 1859[2]
- Arthur Semmy, born 30 Sep 1860[2]
