Buried: Henry Jones Family Cemetery (now in George Rancch Historical Park), Crabb, Fort Bend County, Texas.[4] Marker: "Died June 2, 1836 / Aged 66 years 2 mos 21 days."
Migrated abt 1815 with his family across the Arbuckle Mountains (now in southeastern Oklahoma) to the Arkansas River.
During the winter of 1818-19, he played host to noted naturalist Thomas Nuttall at Mulberry Creek. A few months later, he moved to the vicinity of Fort Towson, in what was then thought to be Miller County, Arkansas (and was later Indian Territory, and is now in Choctaw County, Oklahoma).
In 1820, he crossed the river to Red River County, Texas, and in 1821 he and Henry Jones, and other local settlers, traveled south to join the Austin Colony (becoming one of the "Old Three Hundred"). He received a league and a labor of land in what is now Fort Bend County.
