Jacob Stilwell was born September 15, 1795 in Ulster County, New York. He was baptized December 13, 1795 at the Marbletown Church in Stone Ridge, Ulster County, New York. [1][2] He was a son of James J. and Catherine (Lounsbury) Stilwell. [3][4]
He married Elizabeth Quick on December 25, 1817 in Hector, Schuyler County, New York. [5] They made their home in Hector, Schuyler County, New York. [6][7]
Jacob Stilwell served in Tompkins County's 145 Infantry NY Militia. He was promoted to Lieutenant in 1822. [8] His service records indicate he was a Captain, a Major and then Lieutenant Colonel. [9]
Jacob Stilwell died November 3, 1865 in Schuyler County, New York. He was recorded as 70 years, 1 month and 21 days. He is buried in Jones Cemetery in Schuyler County, New York. [10][11]
