Biography

Born 2 Apr 1820. , Lebanon, Pennsylvania, USA. [1]

Died 15 Feb 1897. Fremont, Sandusky, Ohio, USA. [2]

Buried 17 Feb 1897. Green Creek Twp, Sandusky, Ohio, USA. [3][4]

Note: Looking at 18506070 censuses, Adam lived on a farm 1850-60 (Green Creek Twp, Sandusky Co., OH), but lived in Fremont in 1870. However, when he lived on a farm owned by William Stine (b. ~1790 in PA). Maybe William was his father or uncle.(?). 2 1840 Sandusky Co., OH census: no Stine/Stein in the indexes for this co. 2 1850 Sandusky Co., OH census: William Stine-60, Adam Stine-30 and John Stine-34 were all neighbors in Green Creek Twp. In fact they were the last entries for Green Creek Twp, immediately before Ballville Twp in the census. William owned a farm ($2000); so did John ($700), but Adam did not. 2 1860 Sandusky Co., OH census: Adam Stine-40 and William Stine-70 were neighbors in Green Creek Twp (still!), but William still owned the farm ($3000). John Stine-44 is on next page of census and owns a farm and saw mill ($1500). John appears to be enumerated twice: on page 80line 24B and on page 97/line 1B. And to complicate matters further, there is another John Stine-46 who also owns a farm ($1600) on page 81line 5B, and has children of *very* similar names to the other John Stine. 2 1870 Sandusky Co., OH census: No Stines in Green Creek Twp. Adam-45 is in Fremont city and is a farm *laborer* but owns $3000 in real estate. Can't find William who would be about 80. Assume he died. Adam has a domestic servant, Clara Huff-21. His birthplace is now OH (1850/60 it was PA), and his age should have been 50, not 45. 2 1880 Sandusky Co., OH census: Adam-61 is @ Napoleon St., Fremont (ward 4) with his wife Elizabeth-53, daughter Mary-22 and grand-daughter Clara-4. No sign of Clara's father; assume Mary is Clara's mother since she is shown as "married" (not widowed!).
