Emma Stinson was born 10 May 1832 on Deer Island, Hancock, Maine. She was the daughter of James and Patty "Betsey" (Haskall) Stinson [1] [2]

She married William Jefferson Woodward in 1850 [3] he is the son of James Woodward and Elizabeth Johnson. This marriage had 11 Children: William H. Woodward b. 1852, Leeman A. Woodward b. 1854, Haskell M. Woodward b. 1855, Charles M. Woodward b. 1855, Joseph W Woodward, b. 1858[4] Zelia L. In 1860 this growing family is living in Jonesport, Maine. The value of their home is listed at $300, and their personal assets are listed as $125.00 [4]

Per the 1870 Census she is still living in Jonesport and their home is now valued at $800. Her husband is now listed as "seaman", not fisherman[5]

In 1880 Emma is still living in Jonesport, Maine. Her husband listed as a fisherman again. Their home is valued at $300. [6]

Research Note

According to the 1900 US Federal Census, she and William had been married for 49 years. She is not listed in the 1850 census with her brothers and sisters. I think they were actually married in 1850. That is the only reason I can imagine her not being on the 1880 Census with her brothers and sisters.

I am showing the mother of Emma as Betsey Haskell. This is per Emma's death certificate. I have sent the question of the profile owner of Patty Haskell. I have seen elsewhere that her name is Patty, but they called her Betsy.. just need verification.
