William Stinson was born in Nepean in 1870. He was the son of John Stinson and Elizabeth Griffith. He married Jessie A. Falls in Nepean in 1895.
William Vaughn Stinson passed away in hospital on Tuesday, March 3. 1953, beloved husband of Jessie Ann Falls, of 640 Gilmour Street (formerly of Merivale), In his 83rd year. Resting Veitch - Draper, Limited. 413 Parkdale Avenue (at Gladstone), where service will be held on Friday. Entombment in Pinecrest Vault. Interment in Merivale Cemetery In the spring.[1]
William Vaughan Stinson, a former Nepean township Councillor and widely known in the Ottawa district, died Tuesday in Ottawa, at the age of 83, following a lengthy illness. He resided at 640 Gilmour Street. For 60 years, Mr. Stinson farmed in the Merivale district, where he received his early education. He was born in North Gower. Well known in lodge work throughout the area, he was a member of the Ionic Lodge, AF and AM, and Merivale LOL No. 85. He attended Merivale United Church.
He was a son of the late John and Elizabeth Stinson, and in 1894, at Merivale, he married the former Jessie Ann Falls, who survives. Also surviving are two sons, W.O. Stinson of Billings Bridge, and George Stinson of Merivale; one daughter, Mrs. S.J. Scarf, of Ottawa, and two brothers, Thomas and Wesley Stinson, both of Ottawa; also 13 grandchildren. The body is at Veitch-Draper's, where service will be conducted by Rev. E.A. Martineau Friday. The funeral will be held to Pinecrest cemetery, where the body will be placed in the vault until Spring, when interment will be made at Merivale.[2]
