William was a Farmer. He sold his farm in the Peddie District in 1903 and trekked to Senekal, Orange Free State. There he bought a farm and sold it in 1913. He moved to Vryburg, Cape, where he bought the farm "Lucknow". At his death the farm was subdivided and named "East End"; "Shamrock"; "Bristol" and "Lucknow".
