Although Sterling claims Elizabeth d.s.p.[3], Paul and MacGregor claim otherwise.[1]<[2]
Sterling assigns Elizabeth as the daughter of the William Stirling who married to Margaret Crichton assigning her as the mother but the date of her marriage indicates that she was the sister not daughter of that William.

We have a major problem with Elizabeth Stirling. One source says she was married to Adam Crichton by 1479; "Sir Adam Crichton......having m. firstly by 25 June 1479, to Elizabeth, eldest daughter of Sir William Stirling of Keir, when they had a charter from her father for the lands of Kippendavy in which he is styled filio et heredi apparenti Jacobus Crichton de Ruthvenis.8 (citing C2/20/12) - see page 2 of http://redbookofscotland.co.uk/wp-content/uploads/2018/05/Crichton-of-Ruthven.pdf
However, the wikiepdia page for her supposed father, Sir William Stirling of Kier (Stirling-266) gives the date of his first marriage (eg to Elizabeth's supposed mother) as 1472. If the first source is correct, it suggests Elizabeth would be around 6 years old when she married.
It appears that she was the daughter of WIlliam's father also named William as the marriage of the younger William was, as you point out, in 1472 but her marriage indicates that she was born before 25 Jun 1467. That 1472 was to the 'supposed' mother Mariota Fleming but they had no issue according to Fraser in Stirlings of Keir.
