William Stirling (13th of Keir and 10th of Cadder) was born on 5 June 1725. He was the son of James Stirling (10th of Keir and 7th of Cadder) and his wife Marion Stewart.
He died on 22 May 1793 at age 67.
He, his brothers and his children were major owners of plantations in Jamaica that relied on slave labor. He inherited Stirling of Keir from his brother Archibald and he from their eldest brother John. Archibald added the head of Moor Lady to their heraldry within a few generations the family no longer held people as slaves. [1]
On 3 November 1781 William married his second wife Jean Stewart the daughter of Sir John Stewart (4th Baronet Stewart of Castlemilk) and his wife Helen Orr.
