Biography
Samuel was born in 1863[1]. He was the youngest child of Robert Stobo and Mary Gordon and seemingly inherited all of his uncle's names that weren't already used by his siblings. He is referred to on most documents by his initials, S.D.A.A.. He immigrated to Canada in 1888, where he settled in Culross Township, Bruce County, Ontario on lot 21 concession 7[2][3][4]. His sister Rachel also came over initially to help him set up house[5]. In 1895 he married Elizabeth (Spence) Stobo[6]. Together they had 5 children:
In 1917 S.D.A.A. was elected president of the South Bruce Board of Agriculture[7]. S.D.A.A. passed away in 1948 and is buried in Culross-Teeswater Cemetery[8].

- SDAA is mentioned in the accounts of the Culross council in The Bruce Herald newspaper in 1908[9] and 1909 [10]
- In 1927 he won first prize for the best plow team in the annual plowing match [11].
