Biography

1776 Project
Hezekiah Stocking served with 2nd Connecticut Provincial Regiment (1775), Continental Army during the American Revolution.

Hazekiah, along with his father and brothers Nathaniel and George, were killed on Aug 23, 1777 by an explosion in a powder mill in East Glastonbury, CT , where they were making ammunition for the US government. Eunice, their mother, who was returning from Boston at the time from selling powder by horseback, heard the report from miles away and felt the shock of the explosion, and spurring on her horse, she reached the scene, her horse falling dead from exhaustion. Elisha, the youngest son, had been sent from the mill, about a half hour prior, to run an errand and was saved by his bereaved mother. https://archive.org/details/stockingancestry00stoc/page/21
