Robert was the son of Robert of Stokeport[4] [5]
Ranulf (III), earl of Chester, confirmed Marple and Wybersley as Robert's heritage, at Macclesfield; Barraclough says Robert's father died in 1205 or 1206 and dates the confirmation charter to 1206,[4] however, Earwaker dates this charter of earl Randle Blundeville to 1220:[5]
Randle, Earl of Chester, to his Constable and Shield-bearer, and to the Justices, Sheriffs, Barons, Bailiffs, and all his men, sendeth greeting. Be it known unto you that I have conceded and regranted, and by this my charter have confirmed to Robert, the son of Robert de Stokeport, all his right and inheritance in Merpel and Wibreslegh, with all that appertains to them in wood and in open land, in meadows and pastures, in ways and hedges, in waters and marshes, and in everything to these lands belonging ; and also the land which Walter held of the aforesaid Robert [de Stokeport] in Upton and one burgage in Macclesfeld. To have and to hold by the said Robert and his heirs, of me and my heirs in fee and inheritance, freely and quietly and fully by Forest service for all service, saving to me and my heirs all aeries of hawks, sparrow-hawks, and falcons, and the hunting in the woods belonging to the said lands. And the aforesaid Robert, and his heirs and their men, shall have everything necessary to themselves in the aforesaid woods except the wasting and destruction of my forest. These being witnesses : — Philip de Orreby, Robert Pait [sic Patric], Thomas Despencer, Warine de Vernon, Roger de Mesnilwarin, Peter the clerk, Richard Phitun, David de Malpas, Herbert de Orreby, Jordan de Bredbury, John Phitun, Richard de Davenport, Roger de Dounes, William de Stanlega, Richard de Sutton, and many others.
Robert was the sister of Margery:
Know all, as well those present as those to come, that I, Robertus de Stokeport, have granted and conceded, and by this my present charter have confirmed, to Willielmus de Vernon, and Margeria, his wife, for his homage and service, as the right and inheritance of the aforesaid Margeria, my sister, all the land of "Marpel et Wibereslee," with all the appurtenances, in wood and plain, in waters and pastures, and in all other places and liberties, — viz., within these boundaries, as I ascend from Hiderlektop in Mersee to Guit, and from Guit to Wibberlektop, and from Wibberlektop to the highway, and as I descend from the highway to Kartelacke, and from Kartelacke to Huiderlektop, and from Huiderlektop to Mersee. To have and to hold to him and his heirs of me and my heirs, free and quit of all services and exactions, by finding one forester in the forest of my lord, the Earl of Chester, — viz., Maklesfeld; saving for my lord, the Earl of Chester, the right of hunting with hawks, falcons, and sparrow-hawks. Hiis testibus, Philippo de Orrebi tunc Justiciario Cestrie, Hugone Disp(ensar)y, Rogero de Meinewaring, Willielmo de Venables, Ricardo Phitum, Jord. de Bredburi, Benedicto de Wurth, Rogero de Dunes, et multis aliis.[6]

According to Vincent's Pedigrees, Robert died in the 23rd Henry III, 1239.
He passed away about 1239 or 1249[9]
After she was widowed by the death of Sir Robert, Rose married Alexander de Bamvile.[7]
An Inquisition regarding Robert de Stokepord, taken at Chester, on the Saturday after the Annunciation, 32 Henry III, which was 27 March, 1248, found Robert held lands in Chester; Robert his son of full age, was his heir, and his father was in the wardship of Ranulph sometime earl of Chester, because Sir Hamon de Mascy, of whom he held by knight's service, was in the earl's ward. Robert held:[1]
On 4 May, 32 Henry III [1248], the king took the homage of Robert of Stockport, son and heir of Robert of Stockport, for all lands and tenements which the aforesaid Robert held of the king in chief and which fall to the same by hereditary right. Order to Thomas of Stamford and his co-escheator in the county of Lancaster that, having accepted security from the aforesaid Robert for 34s. 10d. for his relief, they are to cause the aforesaid Robert, the son, to have full seisin of all the lands and tenements that the aforesaid Robert held of the king in chief and of which he was seised as of fee on the day he died. The same day an order was issued to the justice of Chester to take security from Robert of Stockport for relief for the sergeanty that he held of the king in Macclesfield.[10]
