According to Vincent's Pedigrees, Robert died in the 23rd Henry III, 1239.

He passed away about 1239 or 1249[9]

After she was widowed by the death of Sir Robert, Rose married Alexander de Bamvile.[7]

An Inquisition regarding Robert de Stokepord, taken at Chester, on the Saturday after the Annunciation, 32 Henry III, which was 27 March, 1248, found Robert held lands in Chester; Robert his son of full age, was his heir, and his father was in the wardship of Ranulph sometime earl of Chester, because Sir Hamon de Mascy, of whom he held by knight's service, was in the earl's ward. Robert held:[1]

  • Stokepord and Mottrum, held of Sir H Dispenser by 10s yearly;
  • Echelis, held of Sir Hamon de Mascy by service of ½ knight's fee;
  • Bredbury and Bruninton, held of Sir Hamon de Mascy by service of finding him a man and a pack-horse and sack for carrying his armour in time of war at Hamon's cost;

  • Sharston, a moity, and one bovate in — town held of Sir Walkelin de Arderne by ½s rent.

On 4 May, 32 Henry III [1248], the king took the homage of Robert of Stockport, son and heir of Robert of Stockport, for all lands and tenements which the aforesaid Robert held of the king in chief and which fall to the same by hereditary right. Order to Thomas of Stamford and his co-escheator in the county of Lancaster that, having accepted security from the aforesaid Robert for 34s. 10d. for his relief, they are to cause the aforesaid Robert, the son, to have full seisin of all the lands and tenements that the aforesaid Robert held of the king in chief and of which he was seised as of fee on the day he died. The same day an order was issued to the justice of Chester to take security from Robert of Stockport for relief for the sergeanty that he held of the king in Macclesfield.[10]
