Biography
Eliakim was born in 1749. He was the son of Eliakim Stoddard and Joanna Curtis.[1] His father died in September of 1749, a few months before he was born. He had an older brother with the same name who lived from 1742 and also died in September 1749. His mother remarried the year after his birth.
He married Mary Hawley (1746-1807) on 2 May 1771 in Litchfield, CT. No children are known for them.
He passed away in 1802. He is buried in Bennington, VT.

How did he end up in Vermont? Did he have Revolutionary War service?
Find a Grave has no mention of his wife and I could find no source yet confirming the marriage to Mary Hawley on FS. Mary is also currently shown on WikiTree as a wife of Samuel Ensign (1740-1819), but this is also without source and conflicts with Ensign's known wife, Mary Slade/Slate. If I can find sources I will add them, but if I can't find a source for the Ensign-Hawley marriage I will detach her as his (Ensign's) wife. Bogue-687 21:36, 20 March 2024 (UTC)
