Biography

When George Franklin Stone was born on July 27, 1837, in Marlborough, New Hampshire, his father, Benjamin Franklin Stone, was 23 and his mother, Lucy Waterman Barker, was 24.

1850 lived in Norfolk Mass with parents and siblings, He was 12 and birth was listed as in NH, all other children births were Mass

1860 (June 26) lived in Hillsbrough, NH listed as a machinist and living with several unrelated people (machinists) maybe a boarding house?

1860 he was living back in Massas he became a Mason in Mass on Sept 4, 1860.

1861 Enlistment Date:6 Sep 1861, enlisted in Company D, Massachusetts 22nd Infantry Regiment, discharged 17 Oct 1864 in Bosto , Mass. He was listed as a POW

6 Sept 1861 He married Josephine L. Elwell in 1882 in Massachusetts.

They had ten children in 15 years.(Ellen-1883 in NY, Mary-1884 in NY, Ruth-1886 in NJ, George-1887 in Mass, Dorothy-1889 in Pennsylvania, Amy-1891 in Mass, Ward-1892 n Mass, Raymond 1893 in Mass, Otis-1895 in Mass, Roy-1899 in Mass) {all places of birth from the 1900 census}

1900 lived in Wakefield Mass on census with wife and all 10 children listed.

He died on January 19, 1902, in Wakefield, Suffolk, Massachusetts, at the age of 64. His pension states he died 1/19/02, news article states the 18th.
