John Hodges Stone was born in 1911, a son of James Savage Stone and Selma (Bowditch) Stone. He passed away at boarding school in New York State in December of 1928 – just two days short of his seventeenth birthday – a victim of strep throat in the age before antibiotics became a commonplace and highly reliable treatment. Stone Hall, the infirmary at Storm King School – later converted to a dormitory – is believed to have been named in his memory.[1]
