This text in MERSHAM DURING THE 18th & EARLY 19th CENTURIES may referto him

Mr. & Mrs. Stone Senr Stature man short, woman tall and thin. Inhabited a small red house on the same side of the Street. There was attached to this an orchard containing apples and cherries and it was after the death of the old people much improved by his son James and converted into a pleasure and tea gardens at the time of the Brabourne Barracks were erected. This same James Stone now occupies it. Mi. Stone was rather of a blunt instrument, very uncouth in his dialect and ungenteel in his manners, although not a bad neighbour. He was not taught in the school of refinement, his discourse was not at all times purified from the dregs of immorality. He employed himself by daily labour and also about his own premises. He was the principal swine dispatcher. He was possessed of a keen appetite and could spin a tolerable long yarn. These were about that epoch when course was adopted to the manufactory of barley bread when the high price of provisions had intimated a great scarcity in England and other provinces. Mrs. Stone was a quiet but appeared an unhappy woman. She was subject to fits and was not of a sound mind. These were both buried at Mersham.

DNA Connections
It may be possible to confirm family relationships with John by comparing test results with other carriers of his Y-chromosome or his mother's mitochondrial DNA. However, there are no known yDNA or mtDNA test-takers in his direct paternal or maternal line. It is likely that these autosomal DNA test-takers will share some percentage of DNA with John:

Stone-3310 and Stone-3401 do not represent the same person because: As the comments on the pages note, there were two DIFFERENT John Stones living in Mersham at the same time, one married to Isabella Brenchley and one married to Esther Stocckwell. The reasons they have similar dates is that I have one baptism record, and an estimated birth for the other. I have one death record, but I can not tell which one it applies to. But they are DEFINITELY two different people with two different families.

There are two John Stones living in Mersham in the 1760s.

One, Stone-3401 is married to Isabella Brenchley, and is the line I follow.

The other, Stone-3310, is married to (H)Esther Srockwell.

Many baptisms records are unclear; some transcription showing Esther as the mother, and others showing Isabella, or "either/or" as the mother.

Some, e.g. Edward, are still unclear.

The death in 1817 could be either, so listed as "uncertain".

Any clarifications appreciated.
