John was born in 1878. He was the son of William Stonehouse and Mary Ann Kearney. He passed away in 1885. "RICHMOND. Quite a gloom was thrown over this township on Thursday, 22nd inst., when it was reported that the son of Mr. W. Stonehouse had been accidentally drowned in the boat, River Stratford, on his way home from school At midday, the little fellow being missing, search was made, his friends thinking that he might have wandered to some of the neighbouring farms. After searching for some time he was ultimately found by Mr. Burns in the river close by his parents' residence. An inquest was held on Friday at Stratford, and a verdict of accidentally drowned was returned. Much sympathy is felt throughout the whole district for the bereaved family." [1]
