Biography

Mary was born in 1810 (not in Stranton records). She is the daughter of William Stonehouse and Mary Jackson.

DDR/EJ/MLA/1/1837/79 25 February 1837 Allegation by John Jackson, of Brancepeth, County Durham, farmer, bachelor for marriage to Mary Stonehouse, of Hart, County Durham, spinster at Hart, County Durham sworn before James Raine (surrogate).

Mary Stonehouse 21, of Thorp Bulmer, Hart, married John Jackson 21, farmer, of Burning Gill, Brancepeth, on 25 Feb 1837 in Durham, England. [1]

Sister Mary still lives at Witton le wear she has been poorly but I am informed she is quite better again, how John eploys himself at Witton I doent Know but he is not one that minds much about Work Uncles and aunts in that neighbourhood was all very well the last account we heard Uncle and aunt Nesom are both well at present but Aunt enjoys but very poor health Letter to John from Thomas in Greatham, July 23 1851
