Dianne Stoner is the fourth daughter, and the sixth child of Frederick William Stoner and Elizabeth Frances (née Miller) Stoner. Diane is the younger sister of three sisters Irene Stoner, Arlene (née Stoner) Majek and Doreen E. (née Stoner) Newby, and two brothers Roger Allen Henry Stoner and Kenneth Edward John Stoner.
Dianne was born on Sunday, October 28, 1945, in Chatham, Kent, Ontario, Canada. She was delivered at the St. Joseph's Hospital.
After she was born, Dianne spent the first eight days of her life in the hospital with her mother.
Dianne married James Thwaites.
Dianne married Gerard Roelofs.

When she started school, Dianne attended Victor Lauriston Public School in Chatham, Kent, Ontario, along with her siblings until June 1953. Later the same year, a new school had opened in Chatham, in honor of the sovereign, Queen Elizabeth II, named Queen Elizabeth II Public School (QEII). In September 1953, Dianne and her siblings switched schools to Queen Elizabeth II Public School, as the new school was closer to where they lived. She was in grade 3.
