Venerable Hon. Henry Scott Stopford was the son of James George Stopford, 3rd Earl of Courtown and Lady Mary Scott. He married Annette Browne, daughter of William Browne and Lady Charlotte Bourke, on 10 May 1826. He died on 28 October 1881.

He held the office of Archdeacon of Leighlin.
