Hester Storey ... [1]
"Maryland Marriages, 1666-1970," database, FamilySearch (https://familysearch.org/ark:/61903/1:1:F4JB-DXW : 12 December 2014), John W. Chilcutt and Hester Ann Story, 15 Nov 1837; citing Caroline,Maryland, reference ; FHL microfilm 13,780. This marriage record may be for another couple. The 1860 census indicates she was born in Ohio and there appears to be little reason for the Pennsylvania native to marry an Ohioan in Maryland.

Well, except that the 1850 and 1870 censuses have her born in Pennsylvania and the 1880 census has her born in Virginia. The real reason that the 1837 marriage record is almost certainly for a different couple--and that there is therefore no evidence that her maiden name was Storey--is that six of _this_ Hester and John Chilcote's children were born between about 1819 and 1835.
What is notable about Hester/Esther Chilcote's appearance in Benton, Ohio census records is that she last appears living with her husband John Chilcote in 1850. In 1860, 1870, and 1880, she is living in the household of a different daughter and son-in-law each time. Meanwhile, as already noted on his Wikitree page, in 1860 "John Chilcoat" appears living in the household of a different one of their daughters, the home in Saline, Illinois of Elizabeth (Chilcote) Elder and Elizabeth's husband Isaac Rains Elder. Neither the 1860 census form nor that of 1870 ask for marital status, but the 1880 census does, and in her appearance in 1880, Hester Chilcote is marked "D" for divorced. It seems pretty clear that Hester and John Chilcote separated between 1850 and 1860.
