Biography

The early years

Herma Storm was born the 9th of Feb 1887[1] in Peru, Nemaha, Nebraska. She was the daughter of John Storm and Mary Elizabeth Patterson.

There would be 8 siblings from her fathers first marriage with Rachel M Jackman:

Her fathers 2nd marriage to Mary Elizabeth Patterson would have 3 siblings.

From his 3rd marriage to Nancy "Nannie" Martin[5] there would be 3 new siblings

Family Life

She would marry August C Saueron the 21st of June 1904 in Custer County, Oklahoma[6]and they would have:

Through the years

In 1900[8] He was living in Grant, Custer, Oklahoma. In the home were John 61, Nancy 31, William 32, Herma 13, Mary 11, Dale 5 and John 11 months. John and Nancy had been married for 7 years. They had 2 children together, of which both were still living. He was still an active farmer, and they owned their farm mortgage free.

In 1910[7] She confirmed she had been married for 6 years and had 2 children of which both survived. In the home were August 35, Herma 23, Willie 5 and Lowell 1. He was a farmer, and they owned their farm

In 1920[9] they lived in Cedar, Custer, Oklahoma. In the home they rented were August 45(working as general farm labor), Herma 32, William 14 & Lowell 11.

In 1930[10] they continued to live in Cedar, Custer, Oklahoma. Living in the home they own are August 55, Herma 43, William 24 and Lowell 21. August is listed with no oddupation, so we must assume he has retired at this time.

Death

She died on the 16th of April 1981[1] in Clinton, Oklahoma and her body would be buried in the Mount Hope Cemetery in Custer County[4].

Her obituary[5]would read:

Herma Sauer

Mrs. Herma Sauer, 94-year-old rural Weatherford resident, died Thursday morning in the Methodist Nursing Home of Clinton.

The funeral will be at 10 a.m. Monday in the First United Methodist Church of Custer City with Rev. Bill Collier officiating. Burial will be in the Mt. Hope Cemetery under the direction of the Kern-Schneider-Kiseau Funeral Home of Clinton.

Mrs. Sauer was born Herma Storm in Peru, Neb. At the age of 8 she came with her parents to the Custer City area.

She married A.C Sauer in 1904 and he died in 1963.

Except for four years lived at Leedey, she lived all her life in the Custer area.

She was a member of the First United Methodist Church.

Survivors include a son, Lowell Sauer, and a brother, Dale Storm of of Clinton; a sister, Lela Courtney, Torrington, Wyo.; a granddaughter and two great-grandchildren.

Friends may call at the funeral home after 1 pm Sunday.
