Biography

Ephraim Story, son of Amos Story and Hannah Reynolds, was born about 1765 in Norwich, New London, Connecticut and moved with his family to Salisbury, Addison, Vermont after the death of his father Amos Story in Oct 1775. [1]

The children of Amos Story [2] were identified in Salisbury land records pertaining to shares of a 100 acre grant in the Salisbury second division to heirs of the late Amos Story: [3] in a deed dated 07 Dec 1785, Solomon Story sold his share in a quit-claim deed to his brother Samuel Story, [4] and then in a deed dated 30 Jun 1787, Samuel Story, Ephraim Story, and Hannah Story sold their shares to Isaiah Golding; with the exception of the share of their "honored mother, widow Hannah Story." [5] Susanna Story was not named in these deeds, and there is no known further record of her.

Amos Story Children Land Deeds (1785-1787)

Ephraim Story, his wife and family followed the family of his brother Solomon Story to Upper Canada, where in 1795 Ephraim Story made a petition for 200 acres of land in Lot 28 of what became Bastard, Leeds, Upper Canada in 1800. [6] Apparent widower Ephraim Story (age 38) and his children Asa Story (age 16), Susanna Story (age 13), Rachel Story (age 12), Jerusha Story (age 9), Darias Story (age 7), and Sarah Story (age 4) then appeared in a household in the 1804 Canada Census of Bastard Township, Leeds, Upper Canada, [7] and 33 years later, on 13 Sep 1837, "being far advanced in years," Ephraim Story requested that a patent deed be granted to him for this property; this was his last known record.
