The daughter of Thomas Story Sr and Seville (Nelson) Story, Bethel was born in Wayne County, where they farmed, in 1909.They farmed on their own account in Civil District 8 of Wayne County.[1][2] She married Willie Cate Brewer (1900-) in Wayne County on December 20, 1923, marrying when she was just 15 years old.[3] She died of pneumonia after a suffering from influenza; she was just 16 years old.[4] She is buried with her family at Bethlehem Cemetery in rural Wayne County.[5]

Her death certificate lists her year of birth as 1909 and her year of death as 1924, but her grave marker is etched with 1908 and 1924.
