Biography

John III was born in 1810. He is the son of John Jr Stotler and Elizabeth Hunter. According to Court Documents, John Stotler was born June 28, 1810 and died July 28, 1871. Parents listed are John Stotler & Eliza. He married Susan.

John Stottler b. 1775 He was the son of John Sr. & Barbara Catherine Michaels. Pennsylvania and moved to Elizabeth Town (Hagerstown) Maryland before settling in Morgan County West Virginia. These moves may be due to the Indian Raids that were happening in 1700-1800’s. Settlers moving into Indian Territory. Many lives lost & the Wars at the time. It was said that he married (Elizabeth, Elsie, Eliza) I believe these women are one of the same. (Elsie College). There is no record he married Elizabeth Unger, but the Morgan Co. Court House had a fire so it is uncertain.

1. John & Elizabeth. They had Henry, John 3rd, Richard. This May Be Eliza (short for Elizabeth).

2. Elizabeth Pendleton Hunter, (MARRIED JOHN STROTHER b. 1792) They had Henry, Albert, Nancy, Peter, Elijah, Elisha, Joseph, Nathaniel, David. (RECORDS FOR STROTHER & HUNTER FOUND). Some of these children are likely from John W Stottler & Elsie or John Stotler & Elizabeth.

3. Elisa Jane College, (MARRIED JOHN STOTTLER b. 1775) They had Adam, Thomas, Nancy Another Source could be John Sr. sons (brothers of John Jr) named their son’s John. This may be John’s third wife.
