William was born in 1783. He was the son of William Stoughton and Mary Voorhees. He passed away in 1850.
Born in Pennsylvania, settled in what is now Scott Township, Lawrence County, Pennsylvania, circa 1790-1800. He was a Farmer and was one of the original Settlers of the "Far West" as it was perceived in the 1790's. In 1826 through 1829 he was County Supervisor. In 1829 he was County Supervisor and County Auditor. In 1831 he was elected Overseer and in 1836, he was elected as County Commissioner. He died on 12 Mar. 1850, age 67 and is buried in the Unity Baptist Church Cemetery, in Harlansburg, PA, along with his wife, Mary and other family members. [1]
