DNA Connections
It may be possible to confirm family relationships with Samuel by comparing test results with other carriers of his Y-chromosome or his mother's mitochondrial DNA. However, there are no known yDNA or mtDNA test-takers in his direct paternal or maternal line. It is likely that these autosomal DNA test-takers will share some percentage of DNA with Samuel:

Glad to see the sources on this profile - I had found the Quaker Encyclopedia on page 365 and came to post it and I see it is already up. Bravo.

And, found it. This record, from what I've read so far - and I'll need to read it more thoroughly, later, doesn't have Samuel's birth date and other data but it at least confirms that he lived, that he is the father of Peter, and that his Wife was Margaret. Page 8, "Hosea Stout Utah's Pioneer Statesman," source will be listed in the sources. And this, at the least, takes this profile out of "unsourced" :-)

BTW - if anyone has an objection to me just gutting this bio and replacing it, please let me know. I'd like to see it simpler, cleaner & easier for readers to follow.

Proving harder than I thought - plenty on Peter Stout but the sources on Samuel are anecdotal and/or limited. The search continues...
