In 1834, he and wife Elizabeth moved to Spencer County, Kentucky. They were organizing members of the Baptist church in Owensboro.[4]
On 11 Aug 1849, John and Elizabeth Stout, Tinson Stout, and William and Mildred Stout were founding members of the Macedonia Baptist Church in Daviess County. [5]
The Will of John Stout was written on 7 Dec 1864 and recorded in Daviess County court in June 1865. John names son Tinson, specifically bequeathing to Tinson's children (unnamed); the childre of daughter, Mary Hinton of Illinois; he also mentions his wife Catharine Ann "Kitty" Stout and his youngest daughters, Sarah C. and Victoria Stout.[6]
A previous version of this profile included a wife named Elizabeth Engle and gave the date of marriage as 9 May 1814. The record for that marriage date confirms the spouse was Elizabeth Stout, daughter of Reuben Stout. The source given for the Engle maiden name also directed to a marriage for John Stout to Elizabeth Stout. There are no marriages for anyone named Engle in Shelby County in that time period.
