Eleanor Stout, daughter of Caleb and Elizabeth Labaw Stout, born about 1800 in Harrison County, (West) Virginia. She married Edward Davis, son of Josiah/Joseph and Sophia Jackson Davis, February 19 1817 in Harrison County, (West) Virginia. They were the parents of Washington Jackson Davis, a lawyer in Lewis County. They accumulated a considerable amount of real estate on Major Power's Run which she added to after the death of her husband in 1837. She received her part of the estate and the remainder went to Washington Jackson, the only adult child. Eleanor was head of household whose age was between 30-40 and the remaining children were under the age of fifteen as noted on the 1840 census cited below.[1][2]
In fact, there are documents which name other children besides Washington Jackson Davis, said to be the only child. In the 1840 Clayton, Adams County, Illinois census three males and three young females are living with Eleanor. They may be these children
