James was born about 1822. He passed away about 1908.

James A. Stout enlisted in Company C of the 4th Arkansas Cavalry (Union) on December 28, 1863 at Dardanelle, Arkansas. He was listed as age 41, height 5'8", eyes brown, hair black, complexion dark, farmer, born in Giles County, Tennessee.
