In 1875, Augustus Stover had a cottage on Fletcher Avenue, Asbury Grove.[1]

Augustus W. Stover, who had been ill for two weeks, died last night, in his 82d year at his home, 7 Eden street, Charlestown, where he had lived for 43 years. He leaves a widow and one son, Col. Willis W. Stover, 5th infantry, M. V. M., and special justice of the Charlestown police court.
Mr. Stover was born in Charlestown, Dec. 17, 1834, the son of Jonathan Stover, who went there in 1820 and conducted a tannery business. Augustus Stover attended the Bunker Hill grammar school and coming to maturity established a grocery business on Main street in 1859. He retired from business in 1895.
He was treasurer of the Charlestown Five Cents Savings Bank until two years ago; was a member of the old Charlestown city council in 1862-4-5; a representative to the Legislature from ward 4 in 1880-81; chairman for several years of the ward 4 Republican city committee; a member of the Royal Arcanum, of the Charlestown Volunteer Firemen's Association and the Charlestown Improvement Association and an honorary member of the Ensign Worth Bagley camp, Spanish War veterans. Because of physical defects, he was barred from service in the civil war, but he served the Union cause, and that of the United States in the Spanish war, by acting as treasurer of the Charlestown relief fund for soldiers, keeping both records of receipts in the original book used in 1861.[2]
