Biography

Grandfather of Dwight Eisenhower 34th President of the United States.


Simon P. Stover was born in Augusta, VA on 28 September 1822, to Daniel Stover Jr. and Mary (Hannah) Stover.

The 1850, 1860, and 1870 United States Federal Censuses show residence in Augusta County, Virginia. [1] [2] [3]

The 1850 Census shows him and Elizabeth, and a new born Daniel B (although the transcription is incorrect), living with his parents, Daniel and Mary [1]

Simon married Elizabeth Ida Link in about 1848. [4] [5]

Simon passed away on 10 December 1873, and was buried in the Mount Pisgah Church Cemetery in Mount Sidney, Virginia. [7]

Stover-177 and Stover-2394 are not ready to be merged because: until the lineage shown for Stover-2394, no merge should be done

I understand that there are a lot of opinions about the heritage of Simon Stover, and the US Presidents Project is trying to investigate all of them. But, as long as the Dwight D Eisenhower Library does not recognize a lineage as valid, we are not going to endorse one.
