Catherine Stover was born on 22 August 1785 in Pennsylvania, the eighth of twenty-one children and the fourth of eleven daughters of Johann and Catherine Price Stover.

Alternate date of birth: 22 August 1787

On 11 December 1809, when she was twenty-four, she married Robert Looney. She bore him five known children, three sons and two daughters:

4. Sarah 'Sallie' Looney
5. Mary Looney.

On 14 March 1865, when she was seventy-seven, she died in Roane County, West Virginia, of unknown causes.
