Biography

Robert Stowell was born in Yorkshire, England.

Robert was born in 1854. He was Baptized in 1880, at age 26, along with his siblings Elizabeth, Jane, Frederick, and Charles. They were presented by their mother, Susannah. (Their father, John had died in 1879. John is listed as father of children in the Parish Register). The ceremony was performed at Saint Stephen Church, Bowling, Bradford, Yorkshire England. In September of that same year, Robert was married at Saint Peter Church (Bradford Cathedral) to Emily Keeling, 8 years his junior. Together, they went on to have nine children. During his lifetime, Robert appears to have lived in the Bradford, Yorkshire area. If census information indicates he worked as a worsted spinner at age 16, ten years later, lists his occupation as "Fire Engine Driver", then ten years after, is back in the wool industry as a "Woolcombing Machine Monitor". Robert appears in later census, (1901 and 1911) as a "general laborer", and a "laborer in a dyehouse".

Robert passed away in 1934 in Bradford. He was survived by his wife and at least five of his children.
