Harriet was third, of five children, born to Squire Stowell, and Betty Kitson, in Bradford, West Yorkshire, England. She was Baptized on December 10, 1817 in Bradford, at Saint Peter Church (Bradford Cathedral), and was presented by her parents. Harriet Married Amos Bairstow on October 9, 1837 in Tong, West Yorkshire, at Saint James Church. The couple would have at least four children together before Amos' death in
1870.
