Biography

When Thomas McCartney Strain was born on December 4, 1783, in Abbeville, South Carolina, his father, Samuel Strain, and his mother, Hannah Watts, were both 21 years of age.

He married Margaret Jane Watts and they had 11 children together. He then married Phebe Swartz Bartlett, widow, and they had one daughter together.

He died on October 2, 1865, in Thorntown, Indiana, having lived a long life of 81 years, and was buried there.
