Biography
Hugh was born in 1798, the son of William and Mary (Presley) Strain. He married Sarah Ewing of Pennsylvania. They resided at Ottawa, Putnam, Ohio, Among their children are:

Hugh became a naturalized U.S. citizen on 25 Apr 1843.[2]
In 1870, Hugh moved to Chenoa, McLean, Illinois to live with his daughter Jane and her husband David Christy.[3]
