Margaret, known as Maggie, was born about 1861. She is the daughter of Thomas Strain and Mary Jane Truesdale.
Maggie had a daughter in 1897, Mary Jane Cropes ? Strain, later known as Mary Jane McIlroy. At the taking of the 1901 census in March, Maggie is living with her father and 3 year old Mary Jane at 13 Forsyth Street, Airdrie.
In August 1901, she married widower, David McIlroy an iron worker at United Free High Church Manse. Witnesses to their wedding were Elizabeth Cook, Susan Hamilton, William Truesdale and Mary Ann Strain.
In 1944, Margaret died aged 74 at Hartwood, North Lanarkshire. Her usual place of residence was 119 Aitchison Street, Airdrie.
