Melvina was born in 1848 in Bay Verte, New Brunswick, the daughter of George Strang and Sarah Trerice. [1] Her mother died when she was 2, and her father married Emeline Gooden. [2] Melvina, age 13, was living in Westmorland, New Brunswick with her father and step-mother in 1861.[3]
She and Matthias were married 1 July 1865 in Prince Edward Island [4]. In 1867, they registered the death of their son George, in Cambridge Mass. They were living with their two daughters in 1870, in Cambridge. Melvina was age 23, and both she and Matthias were born in Nova Scotia. [5]
Melvina McArthur, a widow, the daughter of George and Sarah, married Nahum Davis on 30 May 1883 in Cambridge, Massachusetts. [6] Melvina Maria Strang Davis married Charles Whiting in 1898. [7]
Melvina died 14 January 1903. [8] Her parents were George Strang and Sarah Terris on this record.
